I need a waterproof jacket for hitting the slopes. Should I spend the money to get a nice jacket at a sporting goods store? I paid $50 for a Body Glove jacket on sale. Do I need a jacket like that or can I get something cheaper?
A lot of stores are having sales right now. I just got a Columbia waterproof shell for 50 bucks. The main thing is, you wanna keep the wind and wet out. Especially the wind! A lot of times its very easy to just layer under a good shell.
You can pay more for a "real" gore-tex jacket, but given the fairly short life cycle of most types of gore-tex (2-3 years), you may just want to go with something that is waterproof in the 50-100 dollar range. Oh yeah, and make sure you get one with a hood.

Im looking to buy a new snowboard jacket but I want to make sure
that i love it considering how expensive they are and i want it to last a long time. What color would look best with black snowboard pants? Does brown look weird? Any suggestions would be really helpful. I wanna look like a hot snow bunny!!! hahaha
Actually I plan to buy a snowboard jacket for my daughter’s Christmas gift and I have seen some really nice black/white patterned and combination prints. I think that is better than getting a solid color because then you can always switch up with a different color pant if you like. Try Zumiez, dogfunk.com and also Roxy has some really nice jackets. I especially like the new "Andy Warhol" design jackets because they are multi-colored so you have a little more flexibility. That way you can even include some brown in your wardrobe (if you just happen to love that color) without clashing. I have found some really nice jackets on sale, so now seems to be a great time to buy!
so the hill that i snowboard at is pretty small and everyone knows each other. I got this really sick jacket a while back only to find out now that some guys at my hill have the exact same one. Now, i know that this question couldnt sound more petty or materialistic
but what would the guys out there think if a girl (who wasnt that good) have the same jacket as you?
